During the winter of 2021 my partner and I met a friend on a nearby frozen lake for some distanced socializing. Later that day I shared these images on Instagram. Not long after, an acquaintance at Merrell reached out asking if I’d be interested in shooting something similar for a new collection. Of course, yes!
It was a really cool moment to be asked to shoot something directly & stylistically inspired off images I had personally created, especially for such an iconic brand.

As planning began the ice was thinning so we chased it north to the Mackinaw Bridge. Production was handled remotely and outlined here in the Planning Deck by Producer Zach Runge. Merrell’s Marketing team handled securing the other members of the team, all whom I enjoy and have worked with before.

Sneaker Boot Shoot March 2021
Below are some images from another campaign I shot soon after for Merrell in Marquette, MI with my partner and sister-in-law. Being that it was still during covid, we met with Stylist Loralee Grace in my home driveway so we could prep looks plein air style and send to the team for review before the shoot. It was an inventive time!
For this project I was creative lead, building the mood board, photo deck & timeline, receiving feedback remotely from the marketing team. The stylist was not able to join us on location, so we all took turns adjusting garments and checking styling notes.
I scouted prospective locations online and by searching hashtags on social media for visually interesting locations. The goal of this shoot was to showcase the footwear in the snow, which was completely gone downstate, and we were even having trouble finding it north, but luckily we had a long list of potential places and found some on Day 2.
